Our Story

The Coil Corner began in 2019 as a naturalista's passion project and grew into a website with a mission to make information about the haircare industry more accessible for the masses.

We have ambitious plans to expand our comprehensive resources for haircare entrepreneurs and consumers alike.

Our Founder

"I've been a haircare enthusiast my entire life, even wearing my mother's slips and stockings on my head as a child to mimic long tresses. Haircare has always been an integral part of my life, and even an inspiration for my art so it made sense to combine my passion for sharing knowledge with my love for haircare.

I still remember the blog heydays of Fotki, Long Haircare Forum and Black Girl Long Hair. I spent hours upon hours researching routines and products, and transitioned from relaxed to natural in 2008.

In 2019 I created The Coil Corner on IG, and officially launched my LLC in 2024. I'm driven by the lack of publicly available knowledge about the products we were putting on our bodies - and the corporations behind them. But, I've also been inspired seeing so many founders, particularly those identifying as Black, step up to the plate to reclaim our space and offer safe, clean hair products.

My goal is twofold:

- To create a space where consumers can find information on products and companies, and use that info to make better choices about who they choose to support.

-To empower and educate beauty founders looking to begin the journey of launching their own haircare brands.
